			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ishigaki Island (124°5´E and 124°20´E , 24°19´N and 24°37´N)  is the main island of the Yaeyama Islands and the region&#8217;s transportation hub. Ishigaki City, Japan&#8217;s southernmost city, is the Yaeyama&#8217;s only urban center and is the site of the region&#8217;s major airport and boat terminal, as well as lots of hotels, shops, restaurants and bars.</p>
<p>Ishigaki is the third largest island in Okinawa Prefecture. It is also the political and transportation hub for the nineteen islands that form the Yaeyama Island chain. Ishigaki is located 1220 miles (1952 kilometers) from Tokyo and 257 miles (411 km) from Okinawa. Closer to Taiwan and Southeast Asia it&#8217;s easy to see how the local Yaeyama culture developed to become a fusion of Okinawan and Japanese culture along with Chinese, Malaysian and Indonesian culture.</p>
<p>Population: 45,000 (Most populated Island in the Yaeyama group)    </p>
<p>Circumference: 160 Km (Second largest Island in Yaeyama)</p>
<p>Climate<br />
Ishigaki island, belonging to subtropics, is warm climate around the year. Its average temperature is around 25°C, highest temperature is around 32°C in August and lowest is around 12°C in January. Annual average highest and lowest temperature is as follow;</p>

<p>It rains almost half the days of the year, and the rainy season is usually in May, and lasts about a month. Annual rainfall is 1,800 mm. Humidity is high throughout the year. It lies in the path of the East Asian Typhoon System, and from July through November may be hit by typhoons and monsoon rains.</p>
